Meet Up and the Garden

The Prepper Meet Up went well yesterday, would have liked to have had more preppers there but still it was fun. Matt done a great job of leading the meet up, keeping control of the meeting and also allowing plenty of discussion at the same time. Much harder to do than it sounds. Great job Matt !! We had about 5 or 6 preppers there that really seemed to know what was going and had some great ideas about how to prepare. It was good to meet them and share ideas. I look forward to having more of the Prepper Meet Ups all around the state of Kentucky and around the country. If you're a prepper try to get one planned, you'll be glad you did.

In garden news, things are going ok, JUST ok that is. Rabbits have pretty much destroyed the green beans so far. I planted some more today and will be keeping a close eye on the rabbits too ( 22 rifle in hand ). Potato bugs have been hell on the taters but they are still just ok. Corn has had just too much rain to really do well this year. Some hot DRY days will do it good. Tomatoes and cucumbers are doing great, lots of growth and bloom in the last few days. All in all it's been a hard year on my garden, too much rain and not enough sunny days. But there will be a harvest of plenty of goodies.

Just goes to show how easy it is NOT to have food. If this were our only food supply we would be screwed....Big Time !! Thank goodness for our food storage and the ability to still get food at the stores. Not sure how much longer our money will be of any value though, just have to hope the crash holds off just a little longer. It's coming soon and I know it.

Been crazy busy for the last few weeks, putting up hay and all the good stuff that goes along with that kind of farm work. Always a thousand things to be done this time of year. The yard work, general cleaning and life itself takes up a hell of a lot of time. Now that the first cutting of hay is up things should settle down a bit, or at least I hope so. Had very little time to blog or read blogs ( I'm a much better reader than writer too ).

Been trying to keep up with the news as best I can, not seen any good news in all of it either. Better tighten the bootlaces folks things aren't looking good for free Americans. The PTB just can't take the fact that some of us still believe in Freedom and are willing to fight for it. We are just a Revolution away from Freedom, get ready, the horn may sound at any time now for Free men and women to stand against evil once again. The battle of good versus evil has been going on for ages and that battle is still alive and well today. Get to know your neighbors and form your survival groups as soon as you can. Tomorrow may be too late, do it now. Remember, there is strength in numbers. Get Ready and Stay Safe.

Survival Groups

When is comes to Long Term Survival we may all dream of the Lone Wolf fantasy were a man or woman with a rifle and a survival knife live all by themselves surviving and thriving in our new found life. But, as much as we like to think this is the way of survival, it's not reality. Only in a group will we be able to survive the long term effects of the future. One person can not make it near as well as a group. Alone, a person will never be able to rest, eat or work without someone else keeping guard over him. Vandals and bandits will roam the land looking for the Lone Wolf as he will be an easy target. He will have to sleep sometime and with no one to watch his back he is sure to perish in a matter of time. With a Survival Group there is safety in numbers. There will be someone to man the lookout post while others perform the required duties of Long Term Survival. Among these duties may be, tending the garden planted with heirloom seeds for use in future gardens, taking care of animals that you may be keeping for milk, meat or eggs, cutting and stacking firewood for heat or for cooking, performing maintenance on you alternative power source be it solar, hydro, or wind power. Looking out for would be looters and guarding what you have will be a full time job for several people.

If you can at all, I suggest that you start forming your groups as soon as possible. Check to see if you have neighbors that are like minded and most importantly have skills. Your group will need to consist of people with a variety of skills. Are any of your neighbors in the medical field? That is for sure one skill that you will want to have around. Carpenters, mechanics, those who know how to raise and care for livestock and of course, shooters. Everyone in the group will need to have shooting skills and tactical skills as well. Having someone that can teach these skills is a must too.

Life as we know it will change forever, like it or not. The members of your group need to be people you can trust with your life because that's what you will be doing for each, watching each others backs. Group members that are prepping now are by far the best choice. Meet with these group members regularly to discuss what options you have and be honest about them all. Don't tell me you can shoot and then let me find out after SHTF that you don't know one end of a rifle from the other. Practice with your group and get a feel for what others can and can't do. Train now rather than later although on going training will be a must for all.

Make a list of skills that the group has and see what is lacking, then look for others that may fill this void. If we are to survive and thrive in the new world that we will be living in we must pull together and form groups or tribes if you will. Michael over at Staying Alive has a good post today were he is talking about people re-tribing. Children moving back in with their parents to help secure the homestead and the family. Extra hands to work and eyes to watch out for would be looters. Be sure to give it a read, it's good stuff. I like the idea.

This is a topic that one could spend weeks studying about and come up with a million different ways to form your group. I encourage you to comment and voice your ideas on this subject. There is a lot that can be covered on this subject and I hope you will join in on the discussion. Most of all I hope that you will start forming your own group.

This and That

Finally got a chance to zero in the scope and the Marlin 60. Didn't take very long at all. My target was set at 75 yards and I shoot in groups of three when I'm trying to site in a new scope. Three shots and then I take a walk up to the target to see what's going on. I could use Binoculars I suppose but I need the exercise and it gives me time to relax a little too. First three were about 1 1/2 foot low and about 6 inches to the left. All three were very close, inside of about 2 inches of each other. After a few more groups I was able to fine tune the scope and get her just right. All shots now are within a 2 inch circle at 75 yards. I'm ok with that.

Still not got the Hi Point 995 back into action just yet. Not really took the time to get the new clip release on order, may do that tonight. So no target practice with that one yet. Be nice to play with the red dot laser a bit. Need to get back on that project. I'll keep you updated.

In other news, I had to go to town today ( I hate that ). Neighbor ran out of fuel right in the middle of the road. A grown man ran out of gas and he had money, just" didn't notice" he said. Can you believe that? I never let any of mine get under 3/4's of a tank and this guys runs out! Anyhow, he called and ask me to bring him some gas so, I did. Got him fueled up and sent him on his way. While I'm in town I might as well make it a useful trip for me too, ya know. Picked up more lids and rings for my caning jars. Probably should try to do that each time I go to town really. You will need them in the future and, always thinking of future barter items, I will be getting more.

Keeping an eye on WHO these last few days too. They seem hell bent on raising this "pandemic" level to 6. I have no reason why but feel that there is more to it than we will ever know. Level 6 would give nanny.gov just what they want, more control. Martial law, quarantine, restricted travel.........the list goes on and on. That is what this "epidemic" is all about, control. I'm not saying that there is not a threat of a flu type virus, there's always a threat. So stay prepared as best you think you need to for this. I have plenty of goodies in my preps if this becomes a real, in your backyard kinda threat and you should too. Always try to stay ahead of the game on these things. Buy what you think you will need, this applies to any and all of your preps. Wait til the threat is knocking on your door and then try to get your preps and you will most likely find empty shelves. You have been warned by me and thousands of others so, it's your move.

Anyway, keep on gathering those Beans, Bullets and Band Aids, you're gonna need 'em soon. Oh yea, enter the First Aid Kit Giveway everyday for a chance to win. Link is to the right.

Survival Seed Vault for Barter

I know that I have mentioned the Survival Seed Vault many times before but I just can't say enough good about this product. I liked it so good that I ordered another for possible future barter items. After the collapse these seeds are going to be worth their weight in gold in many places. Being able to raise your own food in your Survival Garden is the only way to long term survival. Your food storage will run out in time if you don't have a way to replenish it and a Survival Garden is the way to do just that. Most of the seeds from my first Survival Seed Vault are in the ground now but I wanted another for barter. I will be saving seeds like a wild man this fall, like I have never saved them before. Mark my words, heirloom seeds will have more barter power than paper money in the very near future. It's my opinion and the opinion of many others that heirloom seeds and ammo are the best investment one can make in this economy. I'm not taking any chances so I'm getting both. It's not to late to plant your Survival Garden either. There is still time to plant and get a harvest of many different veggies by this fall. Plus you can always have a winter garden by planting cole crops in the fall.

These seed packs will go back into the vault and then stored away for the future. Natural disasters of any kind could come my way and wipe my garden out leaving me with nothing. No food and no seeds. It just pays to have a back up plan (or seeds). It's just the way of a prepper.

How to "Saw Off a Shotgun"

I am planning on going to a gun show just down the road this weekend and will be looking for an inexpensive pump shotgun for a little project I've had in mind. Will also be looking for a 22 rifle, should have bought the one I seen at the flea market about a month ago, been sick over that since then. Maybe I will find a little something this weekend. Until then, here's a little reading material that you may be interested in. I'd kinda like mine a little shorter BUT that would be against the law. This is of course for entertainment purposes only. hehehe!!!

Instructions on how to do a good at-home barrel cut:

Unload the gun, close the bolt, and insert a cleaning rod down the bore.

Make SURE you have the rod all the way down to the bolt face.

Use a marker to mark the rod even with the muzzle.

Remove the rod, and measure off a MINIMUM of 18 1/2 inches, which is the minimum Federal length.

Lay the rod on the barrel with the first mark even with the muzzle, then mark the barrel at the second mark. This is the cut line.

STOP.

Do the entire measuring process AT LEAST two or three more times to be 100% SURE you've got it done right. Measure and cut too short and you've violated Federal law and ruined a barrel.

Wrap a piece of tape around the barrel BELOW the cut mark, or use a tubing cutter to score a line around the barrel. The tape or cutter will give you a square cut line around the barrel.Use a fine-tooth hacksaw to make two or three shallow cuts on the line.Rotate the barrel and make several more.Continue to make shallow cuts and rotate the barrel until you have a line cut all the way around the barrel. Then, just continue making shallow cuts and rotating the barrel until it's cut all the way through. This insures that you get a nice square cut, without the saw drifting off at an angle. This greatly reduces the chances of the muzzle not being square and having to do a lot of filing to square it.

After the barrel is cut off, use a fine-cut file to lightly break the sharp outer edges of the muzzle.Use fine sand cloth over the ball of your thumb to lightly break the sharp inner edges of the muzzle, and to remove the saw marks from the front edge.

Tough up with cold blue.New front sights are a little more complicated, and are probably best left to a gunsmith who can drill and tap the barrel for a new bead.

For an inside the home, home defense gun, no front sight is really needed.

Swine Flu Preps

By now you have all heard the news about the newest pandemic, if not, you're already dead. It's everywhere on the net and on TV and radio too. I have no idea if this is the real deal or just more government bullshit. Either way, I'm doing all I can to prepare for it. I am happy to have what little I do have anyway. You may remember my Airborne Agents post a few weeks back, if not you can read it here. Guess I wasn't too crazy for thinking ahead on that one, at least now it looks that way. Be sure that I let everyone in the house hear it too, "I told ya so". hehe, I just love it when I'm right. I have masks on order for every member of the family and they will be here in the next 2 days, or so they say. Already had some Oregano Oil from some preps I had made some time ago, so I'm ok there, will still be getting more for future use if nothing else. Man, I tell ya, this is some scary stuff. I have no intention of dieing from some pig that had a cold. ( I know it's more than that but work with me here people )

Not sure of your plans but here's mine if you're interested. First, if I hear of a case close to me. Stay home and away from people, that junk at Walmart can wait, trust me it will still be there. Keep a mask in your car at all times for each person, even a cheap one will help until you can get to the safety of your home. Keep enough food on hand to wait out this pandemic, at least 3 months. ( You have been adding to your food storage haven't you ?? ) If you can, put plastic over all of your windows and seal any drafts to keep all unwanted air out. I know this thing is passed from person to person but I'm not gonna take any chances if there are a bunch of cases close to me. Stay clean. Wash your hands with antibacterial soap and do it often. I will use bleech too !! Take your Oregano Oil as recommended, it's a natural vaccine of sorts. Just get some and use it and keep extra on hand at all times. Get extra of all these things that you can for the people that are not as smart as you and have not prepared for anything. Believe me, they will be knocking on your door shortly. Below are what I would call the minimun preps to have. You can check my store for more and the widgets on each side of this blog. You should be able to find all you need there. Please, get your family prepared for whatever this threat will bring your way.

Swine Flu Pandemic has it's own Blog now

I'm not really the guy to come to for Swine Flu news but I can direct you to the latest and greatest info that can be found on the net. Swine Flu Pandemic is a new blog started by a good friend on mine and I encourage you all to check it out. I have a few supplies added to Bullseye's Survival Gear Store that you may be interested in as we continue to prep for this latest enemy that has now shown it's ugly face. Be sure to check them out on my new side bar widget. I have ordered gas masks for the whole family now and suggest you get some if you can. We can never be too safe.

Defending my HOMELAND !!!!!

If the gov feels a need to Secure and Defend their homeland then you can bet your ASS I feel the need to Defend MINE from THEM !! I stand ready at all times for unwarranted invasion from terrorist, both foreign and domestic. I really feel the threat from the domestic terrorists rather than foreign to be the biggest threat I face. You know, that's just sad as hell. I was born and raised in this country and after 42 years I still see them as my most dangerous enemy. Is it that I have done something wrong or immoral ?? NO, it's that they have. This gov has worked night and day to find ways to take my GOD given rights and I'll be damned if I am going to sit in front of the TV absorbing their Bullshit night and day while it goes on. I stand READY !!! They will take nothing from me without a fight !! I stand READY !!!

Defending my Homeland

I stand READY !!!

Upon entering Camp Bullseye you will be greeted by an armed guard (aka Bullseye). If you are a friend or family you will be permitted to pass and your safety guaranteed as long as you are a guest here. If you are not found to be a friend or family, but foe, you will be dealt with accordingly. I never look for a fight but I am always ready if need be. I always have my side arm and many times late of the evening or during times of alert you will find me with my carbine too. Always remember, friends and family are welcome. Others, well......... they'll get the picture.

This picture was taken this evening just before border patrol. I enjoy walking the perimeter each evening making sure it is secure.

Trash Bag Survival

Yep, you read it right, I said trash bag. I keep several cheap trash bags in my BOB and a few in each of my vehicles. I was going to list all the uses for a trash bag in a survival situation when I found this link. Who would have guessed that a trash bag could be so useful. If you are reading this you are most likely a Survivalist, Prepper or at least someone who is interested in surviving. Take a look at the link and you will be surprised at what can be done with the Lowly Garbage Bag.
