. . . - - - . . .

For those of you that know what this is, thank you for answering this call. For those of you who don't, thank you for coming over to see what the hell Ol' Bullseye is up to this time. The title is S O S in Morse Code. We all know that S O S is a distress signal but very few know how to relay this message in time of need. Just keep in mind the number 3, 3 dots, 3 lines, 3 dots = S O S.

In a distress situation any thing related to the number three is recognised by those trained to search for anyone that is lost or in danger. Pile 3 rocks one on top of the other to signal that you were there or that you went that direction. Three shots from your gun into the air to let others know you are there. Pound on a rock or anything that may get others attention, again 3 is the magic number.

Now back to Morse Code. Morse Code is thought by most of us to be a system used by Ham Radio Operators and it is. At one time all new Ham Operators had to learn Morse Code to pass their first Ham license. That law has changed now and you can get a license without learning code. But most veterans of Ham will suggest that you learn it just in case, good advice too. Amateur Radio (Ham Radio as it is usually called) is a great hobby and a very good skill to have for anyone regardless of age. Communication is and will be VITAL when TSHTF. If you are interested in learning how easy it is to become a licensed Ham Operator then check this site.

Here is a great site that lets you type in any word or sentence and hear it in Morse Code. Really cool site and could help you learn code too.

And yes Ol Bullseye's even got a Morse Code Chart for ya too. Be a good idea to print this out and carry it around with ya for a little while. You'll be surprised how fast you can catch on. Be sure to print an extra copy for you BOB too.

This is Bullseye...OUT !!! or as the Ham Operators say 73's

Both my parents had their Ham licenses.
K*RWG and K*RSL. I can remember my dad talking to his brother in Idaho and his other brother in California.

I have my dads old ham rig. I believe it is a Swan 250 (350?).
All i am lacking is an antenna to put it back into comission.

Interesting. The verification word for this post is haminfr.

Thank you everyone for coming over to check me out. Wasn't trying to cry wolf or anything, sorry about that. Just trying to get some interest in Ham and Morse Code. Selous Scout, that is really cool that you have your dads old rig man. Check craigslist for free antennas. I see them on there sometimes for free if you just come and take them down. I hope this post will inspire so of you to get into Ham radio or maybe even some to get back into it. Communication is goning to be vital to us all in the very near future. Thanks again for all the comments.
