OK, maybe you can't get your license today but you can get a good start today. I have been studying for my Technician Class test and I am nearly ready to test. First thing I did was order my study guide and then take a few practice tests online free here. Then get in touch with a local Amateur Radio Club and they can schedule a test day for you or let you know when the next one is. These Ham radio guys and gals are great. They are so helpful and always eager to help in any way to get you licensed and on the air. Many clubs have Field Days during the summer and they can let you get a taste of Ham radio by letting you talk on one of the many radios that are set up for the event. I promise you that if you get in contact with a club in your area you will be glad you did. They will do everything they can to help you in your quest for the test. And the test, pretty easy if you ask me. After studying for just a few hours I began to take the practice tests online and have passed them many times. I bet I have take the practice tests a 100 times and passed every single time. The test is multiple choice and there seems to me to be only 1 logical answer. Really this is something anyone can do. Getting you study guide is the most important thing you can do now to get started. So this weeks "Bullseye's Pick of the Week" is
This is the book that I have and it its easy to read and understand. A little study time with this book and you will be ready to pass your Technical Class test. And remember you don't have to learn Morse Code to pass your test.

Appreciate the reminder, Bullseye. this is something that's on my "to achieve" list. Congrats on moving inexorably towards it, Brother. I think, come what may, this will be a very vital form of communicati, so the more HAM's the better. Excellent suggestion...
