I see that many believe this statement to be true. However it's not always the case. I would ask that you take some time to read the following,
You Will Survive Doomsday
By Bruce Beach
DOOMSDAY
MYTH #01: Almost everyone will suddenly be killed on doomsday.
You will survive doomsday. And here you thought that if it ever happened the bomb would fall right on you. Probably not. It will more likely go like this. Click here to read it in it's entirety.

Most people don't understand the effects of nuclear fallout, Bullseye. They are products of the propaganda machines that work overtime to pit each American against each other.
I'm not saying I'd welcome a nuclear event, but then I'm not one that was whimpering and crying and praising Jimmy Carter when he wanted to unilaterally disarm.
One of my mother's friends is a Japanese lady who was a teenager living in Nagasaki when the atomic bomb was dropped there. She was on the outskirts and was not badly hurt. She crossed ground zero twice only a few days afterwards, looking for her brother (who was near ground zero and was never found). That lady later married an American serviceman, came to America, had 3 children (all normal) and is still living today. Her husband, a smoker, was not so fortunate. Remember that our first atomic bombs were incredibly inefficient and 'dirty' by today's standards. Why not plan to survive? She did.
Catman, thanks and you are right my friend. We have been programmed from day 1.
Tweell, thank you for sharing this story of a true survivor. I loved every word of it.
